Any advice on cleaning the throttle position sensor on my 110hdi. I've had a quick look and it seems to be a sealed unit?

Yeah, it's sealed. IIRC there's a plastic panel you can take off but underneath the thing is sealed in rubbery stuff.
If you want to experiment taking one apart then I have a duff one that you're welcome to have. (Mine seems to eat one every couple of years.)

One my last but one, I got the usual fault code which my mechanic read. He took the connector off and put some electrical grease into it, and it behaved for over a year.

no they are not sealed there are sum screws on the back and you will need some dielectric grease,cleaning solvents and torxs bits.

pick out the two epoxy screws caps to reveal t10? undo them (circled in red).

then lift off the sensor from the rest this will reveal sum very small torx screws undo them there will be three.

now i think you can lift the casing off try not to get any metal filing on the magnets as this will make it not worth doing .

clean with cleaning agent and allow to dry, don't wash under water.

now apply dielectric grease and reassemble.

Which is exactly what I did to mine and it's been good for over a year now.

Does any sort of code appear on the display when its playing up?

at worst it will go in to limp mode and put the engine light on at best it will make the engine run ruff and idle badly

Well mine does feel a bit lumpy on tickover sometimes and the turbo doesn't always chime in at 1800rpm,sometimes its further up the rev scale ie 2500rpm,would this also be a sympton of the TPS playing up?
