right where to start..

got this from my brother last night car has never let him down went to collect it and it started instantly after the first heat.
drove it home no problems and was out in it last night and it never gave me any issues.
parked it up at around 11 last night went out to it at 1 o'clock in the afternoon and its refusing to start.
It has a qtr tank of fuel but when I take the feed line off the filter and crank it over its not giving me any fuel through.
any ideas? I need to use the passengers door to lock and unlock it as the drivers lock just spins could this be related ie imobilisser kicking in?
my brother never locked the car so wondering if this could be the issue.

this may be the in tank pump if you lift the back drivers seat there should be a black disk under it is the in tank pump

the key spinning in the lock is an anti theft feature you will need to take the lock to a lock smith and get it adjusted

right after a bit of google searching I was starting to thing the low pressure pump so ive got the rear seats up and im into the LPP and when turning on the ignition and crancking it over its not givving me fuel. Ive spoke to my brother and he says this was replaced a year ago by a garage. there's 4 wires running to the top of the pump 2 I presume are for the fuel gauge the other 2 will be for the pump. which ones are which so I can test for power.

Fill the lock up with WD & leave it a while, it might free off.

As usual Pug don't do colour codes so you'll have to squint at the tiny writing on the wires, I can't tell you which way the plug is wired up either :(

1 433 : Fuel gauge 1 info
2 1201 : fuel pump control
3 blank
4 M120 : Earth
5 434 : Fuel gauge 2 info

Don't forget to check if it has the safety cut off switch on the suspension tower nearest the battery...

funny enough I was just away to post up.. checked no power to the pump went under the bonnet as googled for the inertia switch and as you say on the suspension tower pushed it and heard a click.. and away she goes :D

Splendid :cheesy: They don't all have them (neither of mine did) so they're often forgotten.

yea now ive got it running ive discovered it wont move due to a broken front spring on the passengers side right next to the switch.. at least I know whats tripped it

not sure yet called it a day after that.
ive ordered a spring and ill hopefully get that between Xmas and new year
so will get a look once that's arrived.

the spring on the drivers side was changed for its MOT last week so I should have known this one would be due to go

Ive got my mates 320d to run the now thankfully

So the snapping spring took out the inertia switch - that might be a first here :o

Get a garage to change the spring unless you're very competent and have the right kit and room to work safely.

Ive changed a few springs in my time and have access to a hydraulic spring clamp so ive no worries there

I thought I should say something because some people don't really appreciate how dangerous a spring-change job is without the right knowledge and kit.

No I would agree with you I seen a boy lose 2 of his fingers changing a spring with cheap spring clamps
