Fapped cars have a traditional Catalyst
and a DPF filter don't they?
I doubt anything will be wrong with the CAT section but the DPF might be blocked (maybe someone's removed the warning bulb?) they can be removed and 'cleaned' I believe but then you need to reset/refill the eolys fluid and the ECU dosing programme.
If it's a 110bhp I don't know if Doggy's got anything to help the ECU 'forget' the DPF is there?

I can remap the DPF off as well if you can read and write the ecu.

When we picked up the other half's 307 hdi a year ago it was only giving low 30's to the gallon, no DPF warning lights tho. Tried giving it a good run but made no difference, then the garage did a forced regen still no good. Finally they tried a DPF jet wash which got the MPG's back to somewhere near and a bit of a performance boost as well. Luckily it was all under warranty at the time.
Funnily enough I've noticed a drop in economy in it recently so it might be time for me to give it a strip down and shower. Haven't been under it yet so no idea how easy the DPF is to remove and also didn't realise they had a CAT and a DPF, surely they do exactly the same job? All that restriction in the pipe has got to hurt an engine!
I've been keeping half an eye open at the breakers for a donor DPF to hollow out but no joy so far, don't fancy butchering the one on it just in case anything goes tits up.
When I was reading the 'wonder claims' on the web for CAT and DPF removal one company was particularly impressive about how to check for a damaged CAT.
Basically if you take it off and shake it and it rattles it has started to break up and needs changing, if you shake it and it doesn't rattle it's clogged and needs changing, or in a nutshell every CAT new or old is f*cked so pay us stupid money to replace your CAT.

I think the peugeot systems have a CAT before the DPF, each does it's own job - the CAT converts the NOX gases and then the DPF 'catches' the soot (an environmental pollutant) and then burns it off at high temperature under 'regeneration' programmes.

Cats do reducing smoke a little bit, but are mainly for CO and unburned hydrocarbons.
The DPF catches soot/smoke particulate matter, which has been suspected for a long time to be a carcinogen, and has recently been classified as such by the WHO.

This is why we are seeing these small-capacity petrols fitted with turbo's/superchargers now. The new Euro 6 emissions will make owning a diesel passenger car very 'interesting'

Update: dropped it off at garage,
Theyre Swamped out with jobs,so they wont be able to work on it until middle of next week,
they dont think its the Cat at fault, they had one in recently with a simalar fault and it turned out to be Head gasket,
So ive asked them to do a Sniff test on it, before going any furthe'r.
if it cost more than 4-500 quid to repair, iwill bin it on ebay as Spares'or repair,

Last one of these faults I had was a blocked rear silencer box.
You could undo the bolts at the front and run the engine to check if the cat is blocked.
To check the back box undo the clamp at the box/middle pipe.
