Sometimes the engine 'runs-on' after switch off for a second or so, not an even running more of a powerless judder to a standstill. Following this the engine management light comes on, 'antipollution fault' is displayed and the engine will not rev over 3000rpm. After a couple of days the engine management light no longer comes on when started and the 'antipollution fault' disappears from the display. Then the engine will rev past 3000rpm. It seems to happen more when cold but I can't be sure.... any suggestions?

Re: Running-on, now antipollution fault
ok so you don't have the fap system which makes alot nicer to fault fined
the running on is normally the fuel presser regulator, to fix this i would get a new fuel presser regulator they unbolt from the back of the pump with two t30
the anti-polution fault is the egr system , to fix this i would just unplug it is one of the solenoid on the bulkhead. mite as will do the air doser whiles you are there
don't unplug the solenoid on the bulk head as that will not fix the anit polution fault just pull the vac pipe and plug it up you can get them mapped out for £20 but you have to download and up lode the map to the car yourself

Re: Running-on, now antipollution fault
I've only just started sorting this problem so I'm bumping the thread if that's ok!
The EGR trick has helped a lot. I can avoid the running on problem if I rev to 2500 or so THEN turn off, letting it die without fuel. But the fuel pressure reg is sixty quid and I can't get a scrapper without the whole pump.... I wonder if there's a way to check if it IS a faulty regulator which is causing the run-on?
ALSO: air bag light is on - is this an MOT fail now? If so is there a way to force it off; if not what are the likely culprits please?
Many thanks.

I wouldn't rev the engine and THEN turn it off because the turbo will be going silly rpms without an oil feed!
The air bag light will be the connectors under the seat (red 2-pin plug) just work the connector in/out a few times or carefully bend the pins *slightly* so that they connect together more tightly (use something plastic to do this DO NOT bridge the pins with anything metal like a screwdriver).
I've heard you can try putting a litre of clean engine oil into a tank of diesel to lubricate the regulator and stop it sticking but I am in NO WAY telling you to try it you must do a bit of research first. Don't forget that each can of injector cleaner, whatever, you buy to try and fix this is eating away at that £60.00 you need for a regulator
That's if it is the FPR, its been discussed before.....viewtopic.php?f=1&t=11717#p103704
