Cambelt change on 1.8 lump

Hi chaps,

looking for some pointers on the cambelt change on a 1.8 406
took the top cover off to look at the belt and theres loads of slack in it belt looks fairly new but
best to get it off me thinks,

anyone done one a 1.8 ?
easy ? or are they hard.

ive lost my Auto data, so as any one got a guide of the timing marks

Is it 16 valve?

There are 2 types of tensioner, up to 1999 and 99 on.

Not done one in a long time, but I don't think they are difficult, I'll dig out my book and post the marks unless someone else finds them before I get time.

2 types on autodata, has yours got 4 bolts on crankshaft or just 1

guessed at 4 bolts

sod it single bolt as well

Thanks trem,

looks like theres 4 bolts in the crankpulley,

Im hoping the outer just comes off with the 4 bolts out :frown:

will find out tomorow ,

All sorted,
and fairly cheap too,

24quid for the water pump,
and just shy of 68 quid for the cambelt kit,

took me around a hour and 45 mins ..& thats stopping for a brew and a Smoke or two, not a big job lol
