hi folks,im having problems with my clutch or gearbox and i dont know what it could be,
i have a 110 hdi estate exec its done 164,000 a few months ago i fitted a new dmf and clutch and everything was great for the last 6000 miles but now the gears are notchy and 2nd gear slighty crunches at from 1st to 2nd,1st and 3rd gear wont go fully home it goes into gear but the gear lever stops then it will go fully in if i push it a bit harder.ive just bled the slave cylinder and done a check on clutch drag which seemed ok.how much travel is the slave cylinder supposed to travel, mine is moving the lever arm about 30mm ish is that correct.could it be the sychros have gone?im just trying to look for an easy fix before i have to take that gearbox off again (it was a ball ache).any help would be helpful thanks, steve.

The usual suggestion is change the gearbox oil first - is there any chance you could have the wrong grade of oil?

Indeed, did you top it up again with the right quantity & grade of oil after you changed the clutch?
If in doubt try changing it as Doggy says. Also

i been driving about all day today and car drives ok if i take time changing gear, but something aint right ive done 40,000 miles in this car and you know when your cars ill.gears used to be smooth as silk now its notchy and stiff.thanks steve

euro car parts will hae sold you 75w90 it should be 75w80 do you still have the old bottle to start with, i would go to pug and give them your vin and get the oil that way as the factors don't always sell the right grade and then sell you the wrong stuff just to get your moneys

Rather than the oil I'd be looking at the engine and gearbox mounts. Too much movement in between gear changes and it'll be pulling on the selector mechanism and reducing the effectiveness of your gear lever actions.
