what engine oil to use

i am gonna be servicing my 1999 2.0 hdi and just wondered what grade of oil to use and approx how much does it take for a oil and filter change?

ive not long ago done mine
i used 10w 40 and it took approx 4.5 litres..

I used Silver Hook Supreme Plus 5W/30 Fully Synthetic on my 2000 HDI. From 'Proper Job' store. ( Somerset/Bristol area )
Cost £17 or £18. Took about 4 litres of the 4.5 litre can.
OIl Filter, £4.99 from Peugeot dealer on eBay..
