there is a marker on the tensioner.
So if all is correct it will line up. If not then adjust the eccentric pulley until it lines up
I hope that makes sense,

I think trem is referring to 306set up its different to hdi tensioner
The tensioner set up on them are like the xud setup.
So hdi won't have the square spacer as mentioned.

Sorry if I've confused you,
Have a look at the tensioner if you look below the hole for locking it you will see a marker
This lines up with another marker on the other side.
Download a Haynes bible and have alook at the pics

It must be too tight or wrong belt
If chewing them up like that.
Have you turned each pulley by hand including the ac pulley.
Something might be locking up if that's the correct belt.
Where are you located mate. I'm in Manchester if your local I will lend a hand.

right ive had a look on servicebox and the setup for the hdi is nothing like the 306, apologies if this confused the issue. BUT the fact that one side of the belt is chewed means its rubbing on something, can you try and see what. This is what the 306 did and thats how we found out the belt wasnt running true(straight) on the pulleys causing it to fray. Can you put the belt on reversed and with the engine running watch the belt to make sure it stays sat in the middle of the pulley's??
