flood warning mod

I have done the flood warning mod as described by removing the inlet pipe from the bottom of that airbox only takes about five minutes to do,what a shockingly bad design that was by Peugeot.
The only thing I have noticed is a slight bit more noise from the induction side, similar to a car having a performance air filter fitted but I will put up with that to save it sucking water in!! Surprising what a small piece of plastic pipe can do

I must admit this is something I want to get around to doing also purely because it maybe wasn't their best design... maybe they don't have these floods over in France
Was it really easy to do then?

Yea Sonia really easy to do easier if you undo the clip to the air intake box pipe just lift the bottom of the air box up and unclip and pull the pipe out of the inner wing.

I've been told by a pug mechanic that they fitted these as a bandaid solution to lower the induction noise^^

Thanks...... One day we shall try

Who would want to lower induction noise? Or am I sounding too much like a girl racer now?

Some noises should always be heard

Doesn't this pretty much turn the stock airbox into a hot air intake? Instead of relatively cool air from the wing, you'll be sucking in hot air from right beside the engine.
Instead of removing it completely, I think a better option would be to relocate the pipe so that it sucks air from right behind the grille.

Off you go then, don't forget to take pictures for a "how to"
That is a down side, but I reckon a small drop in power is a necessary trade off for reducing the likelihood of drowning your engine. It would be good to relocate the intake but how would you do this? Someone on the coupe club (Nivek?) is selling an intake to go above the grille, which might be worth investigating should you be of a mind to. What I did think was interesting is that later Pugs & Citroens have the intake located above the grille (too many engines replaced under warranty due to drowning perhaps), it was the first thing I looked at on my dad's C5 X7 when I was in GB a couple of years back. He did mention it seems to rattle about a lot

I did briefly investigate the possibility of putting one on a 406 but PSA rather conveniently put the size of the MAF on their parts catalogues and the later cars MAFs are all bigger, therefore the intake piping is bigger as well so it would exactly be plug & play.

That ought to cover it....

Maybe, or there again.......
My daughter's other half's snorkelled Unimog 'fell' into 8 feet of water recently and his priority understandably was not going down with the ship. U571 carried on chugging away for some minutes until it had cosumed enough diesel to make room in the tank for something else, (normally this would be air).

It's on my "if I get around to it this summer" list ;-)

When the air is drawn in from the bottom of the air box when the intake pipe from the inner wing is removed it will be marginally warmer but the power loss would be minimal and def not noticeable.
