Clutch slip?!?

Hello,

On the way to work today I noticed that my clutched slipped rather badly on the way to work, in 4th and 5th gears on acceleration. It's 6 months old with just under 10k on it. It started quite suddenly just today with no warning.

The only thing I did yesterday is done the injector leak-off test which spilled diesel all over the engine bay. Could it be that some diesel got onto the clutch plate and contaminated it? Will it eventually evaporate and return my clutch to its usual self?

It has to be the Diesel leak in my mind, too much of a coincidence otherwise.

It will stop slipping eventually I think.

The Diesel must have gone everywhere, I take it the test could have gone better than it actually did :supafrisk:

:? When I started the test, I used erm... ahem... masking tape to plug the unused return pipes. This didn't work. It kind of did go everywhere - certainly spilled some onto the gearbox, and I am guessing the clutch plate.

Let's hope it hasn't soaked in and ruined the clutch :|

Oops!

.....and doesn't Diesel *stink*

You could get some engine cleaner stuff and give it a bit of a wipe-down where you can with some raggage? and the snooty tenants at your place might be wondering why there's a rainbow of colours all over the car park :supafrisk:

The experiment took place in my garage so the car park is stain free. Garage on the other hand....

Just took it for a drive to Tesco's and it didn't slip. The engine was cold though so maybe only when it warms up? Will check tonight after a motorway run - today's slip was also after a motorway run.

Meh.... still slipping once warmed up but not as bad as it was this morning. Here's hoping it will get better as time goes on.

Hm, well, I didn't notice it slip today on the way in, so hope that's the end of that!
