A cable has snapped! (photo)

Good afternoon, I come to you a worried man...

I have a 1998 1.8 16v. There are two cables attached to the plastic throttle "disk," one of which has unwound/snapped  It's obviously not the cable for the loud pedal as the car seems to drive normally, so what's it for? I followed the cable and, if i remember correctly, it ends up at either the small plastic box next to the air filter housing or the metal box next to it with the metal pipes coming out of it. Should I try to fix this as soon as I can?

Thanks in advance!

Metal box is abs, plastic box is probably your fuses?

My previous 406 had two cables, one of them is for the cruise control (and, snapped). Does your car have cruise?

Ah, yes... It stopped working a couple of days ago. Should have put two and two together  Thank-you!!
