I've done a puggy....

Decided to overtake some idiot doing 40 on a straight country road when - POP! Smoke, lack of power... you guessed it - split bottom intercooler hose.
Where can I get one? I've scoured eBay but can't see much (at least not individually). Will one from a C5 fit, like
this one, or do I need one specific for the 406?
My car is going wrong a lot lately. First the gearbox fell out, now this. Very lucky to have the gearbox fall out near home and it's still drivable with the split intercooler hose - just no power going up the hill at all. Losing confidence in it now....

If it's the one under the engine that looks like the one in that ebay ad (which I wouldn't trust as it lists petrols in the compatibility list

) then it seems to be specific to the 406 HDi 110

(part no. 0382 N4) Dunno if the C5 one would fit, or any other PSA for that matter, the turbo might be in the same place but maybe not the intercooler. Is it worth 15 quid (plus postage) to find out? New looks to be just shy of 60 quid. For a rubber pipe

Excellent result.
I'm now beginning to wonder if there's anyone left on the forum who isn't driving around with a piece of Kelv's donor car?

And I am glad for the people on this site. eBay breakers are useless. All but one have come back to me to say "no stock" with the one that didn't said "no stock but try this guy".

I am back on the road! Got the hose today along with the new TPS unit. Replaced both and the seems OK on a very short drive.
The split on my hose was quite severe - probably around 5 inches! Must have been a weak point for a while...

I must say with the new hose and TPS pot, the car seems much more livelier. We knew that TPS was the cause of some power issues but I wonder if the hose had a small hole in it already causing the leak...?
Anyway, I am happy now! Washed the car inside and out today so looking good!
