Simple question - does the later 210bhp engine use the same mounts as the earlier 197bhp engine? And are they similar in terms of physical dimensions or is the later version much bigger?
Okay I confess, that's two questions. My bad!
Thanks in advance for any replies
Ben

Identical as far as I know Ben. Service Box does show a couple of part number variations between the 210 and the 194 but the part looks identical from their pic.

Top and gearbox mounts I have no idea about, but the ES9J4S is about the same weight (the engine about 10Kg lighter, but it has a pair of pre-cats bolted on) and only gives around 5% more torque than the earlier engine, so in general they should be good.
The bottom mount is different but compatible. The ES9J4 has a bracket with a non-removable bush in it, so to replace the bottom mount, you need to replace the whole bracket. At least, according to Peugeot. In reality, the bush from the ES9J4S fits inside the ES9J4 bracket (with some cleaning up) and is a hell of a lot cheaper...

The top mount (the rubber bit, not the bracket)
looks the same on every 406, however there are subtle differences in height and most importantly rigidity/elasticity. A 1.8 mount would suffer under the weight and torque of a V6 whereas a V6 mount would probably cause a 1.8 to shake the car to bits
Comparing the V6 top mounts, I'd just be concerned with the height of the things

Cheers for the replies fellas, I only ask because the Mk1 Clio V6 inlet, TB and engine cover I intended to fit in my project car seem to be a better fit on the later 210bhp engine than the earlier 197bhp which is in it currently.
Nice to know that I could upgrade to the later engine without too much difficulty! Cheers!

I'm actually in the process of creating a website about the car for folk to look at, mainly because I get asked about it so much! The only place I can point people to to see the blog is on a forum which requires lengthy sign-up etc.
It will eventually end up online at -
www.projectsilverstreak.co.uk when done.
But for now here's one of my favourite photos of it...
Cheers!

I used the Pug engine though, if I was truly brand-loyal I could have used identical engine from a Laguna

I used to really like my old Renault 19 - it was a 1.9dt and was great. Shame Renault decided to stop making it and create the 'Scenic' instead..

19's are great cars which for no good reason have been given the cold shoulder by the motoring press ever since they came out.
I even picked up a Retro car price guide in 'Smiths yesterday, it had every numbered Renault in there except the 19!
Thankfully there is a hardcore following of us at Retro-Renault.com, which despite it's pretty loose definition was mainly just 19 owners for many years, although nowadays there are one or two 25 owners, a few 5 owners etc. Plus the definition of Retro means we have finally had to allow early Clio owners into our midst!

Would you happen to know if there are any differences in the ES9J4S (210hp) engine inlet, TB compared to the Clio Mk1's ones?
Always wondered if some of the parts were interchangeable to increase the performance.

Taking it one stage further, I was looking at the V6 earlier and found this ...
