2.2 HDI Boost Question

I'm just getting used to the characteristics of the 2.2 and with mine having the 200 map on it (will be changed as soon as I set my lappy up for XP) how does the boost normally come in?
Mine is fairly sedate off the line but when the VGT opens up it's neck straining! is the 180 map any more progressive?
Don't get me wrong it puts a massive smile on your face when it takes off but it is a little 'aggressive' when your half asleep on your way to work in the mornings. Also I am a little concerned it might be a handful when the roads get icey.

gingermagic's your man for a comparison of the two.
I've not tried the '200', (since I still have an egr), but I've heard the comment it's a bit all or nothing and the '180' more docile....

Hi, thats right.
The 200 when on my heavy old estate would either stumble a bit off the mark and wallow for a while then go, or if you gave it too many beans when pulling away the wheels would just spin....
The 180 is more graceful, not quite so aggressive and slightly more economical. The 180 will sit in 5th at 1200 rpm and coast along quite happy but the 200 doesn't like it.
So, I would say 200 is fine for the lighter Coupe's but the 180 is a nicer drive on the heavier cars.
As Doggy will confirm - the 180 is still a very entertaining drive, will spin the wheels in 3rd if you wanted too, 40 - 70 is astonishing and the Audi drivers are still taken by surprise

No, but loosing the spring clip off the TPS cable does the trick.
(9 points on your licence and/or abject poverty seem to work too).

Super economy ? 2.2 ??
At best 45mpg round town, 50mpg on a run - at worst, well I have had mine down to 35mpg average when having a ' blast tankful ' to clear out the cobwebs....

If your commute is halfway round the M25 with 50mph average speed limits in force, I have first hand evidence that you can get 56mpg out of a 2.2HDi on the standard 136bhp map
