My 406 hdi 90 is smokin for about ten minutes when idle when I start it up. its a bluish colour just wondering what it could be. Also there is a pipe from just up from the air box going into top of engine that hasnt got any clips on and is quite loose its also has oil around it should it be clipped up tight.

Sounds like the breather pipe but tight or not it shouldn't cause smoke it just makes your engine bay dirty.
The 90 has no intercooler so it won't be oil pooling in there being dragged through.
Is it using any oil?
Could be excess fuel, cold start pushing too much fuel in, poor plugs...does it start ok on the cold mornings? Tick over nice and steady or hunting?

Its just been serviced and had new glow plugs. When you start it cold u have to keep you foot on throttle for a second or two or it will stall but once you have done that it runs fine although I do get a anti pollution warning on the screen sometimes also should I jubilee clip the pipe.

Was the fuel filter changed on the service? could be air in the fuel system causing the smoke and the stalling issues from cold if it hasn't been primed up properly.
Jubilee clip/strong cable tie is fine for the breather or they normally have a spring clip thingy which you could grab from a breaker if you want that 'original look'.

The bubbles in the clear fuel tubes to/from the filter is normal.
It would be good to get that fault code read. Where are you? Somebody nearby may be able to read it for you.

This 'loose pipe' near the air box; there is one large pipe from the airbox straight down to the turbo, then another from the turbo up to the inlet manifold at the top of the engine closest to the bulkhead. If any of this piping is loose it will leak air, an air leak on the inlet side of the turbo will bypass some of the MAF readings and affect fueling and an air leak on the high pressure side into the manifold will leak boosted air and make the car run rich (smoke).

The pipe is about 6inches long amd comes out from up about the airbox and runs straight across to the side of the engine at the top and there is oil around the joints with it being loose thanks for the info I will have a good look round this weekend and check all pipes. The car cost me peanuts as it was just to get me to and from work but to be honest ive started to like it they are a nice comfy car to drive. So if I can prolong its life I will try.

At work at thw minute so cant get a picture. If you are looking at the airbox and follow its up there is a pipe about 6inches long goin stright into the side of the top off the engine. Where the rocker cover is its about an inch in diameter. Dont know what part it plays but just noticed oil weeping from both ends. I will try and find a pic and put it up.

Slightly different to my engine as my breather pipe runs from the other side of the rocker cover to the air inlet but still a breather.
A couple of jubilee clips is all you need mate.
