Heater matrix pipes

Hello.
I am new to this sight so go steady. I have a y reg 406 hdi which has been running great for the two years i have had it. Until the low water light came on. Checked under the bonnet to find water leaking from the heater matrix exit pipe, where it joins the next pipe which has the air bleed cap.
So far i have changed the air bleed pipe which hasn't fixed the issue. To be honest the pipe doesn't fit that tightly even after it has clipped into place. is that correct?
Trusted garage said they thought it was the metal heater matrix pipe. i am not sure, could it be this?
Have found a very helpful video on you tube on how to get access to the matrix and so my question.
Is the pipe meant to fit really tightly or should it move a bit. left to right, not forwards and back.
Could the metal pipe have a split? It is a constant dripping meaning i loss half a litre in 30 miles.
Is it hard to change the metal pipe?
Should i bother or should i use some rad weld?
thanks
David
