clutch pedal 2.0 hdi

Post by johntl »

anybody got any ideas??
I've had my 2.0 hdi 110 for over 3 years (60k) now and have always had this issue with the clutch, the clutch pedal sits about 2 inch down from top of the travel, the car engages gears fine most of the time, but on rare occasions it is very stiff to engage first ?

My 2000 hdi has the same thing with the clutch pedal, first & reverse can be difficult to engage so may be normal but don't take my word for it my car isn't in the best shape at the moment

Ime double clutching for first and reverse is occasionally necessary. Do you mean the bite is about 2" from the top or you can put your foot under the clutch and lift it 2"? if it's the first then that's normal if the second well....

The bite point is always high it's a pug thing my 307 is the same as my 406 was, self adjusting hydraulic clutch. If it's not slipping then ignore it till it does. You may want to consider doing the cambelt then [emoji33]

My 406 has done 225k and the clutch is very near the top, but it was when I bought it 30k ago and doesn't seem to have changed, if its difficult to engage gears it sounds as though the clutch is dragging, if you have to push it right to the floor to engage the gears either the hydraulic system is not operating correctly or the clutch is failing.

to make it clear, you can put your foot under the clutch pedal and you can lift it 2 inch. just floppy, this first 2 inch of travel does nothing
when you push the clutch pedal the biting point is about half way down the rest of the travel !
