The clutch on my car bites really high but there is no slipping or problem changing gears.
Could this just be the cable needs replacing or adjusting and how hard is it to do?
Its a 2002 hdi 110 if that makes a difference

Re: High biting point
It makes a lot of difference - it's hydraulic so no cable, no adjustment. All the hydraulic 406 clutches bite high, as long as it doesn't slip it's ok.

Re: High biting point
I noticed the high bite point when I bought my 406, 35,000 miles later its still exactly the same, as is my C5 with the same engine.

Re: High biting point
Since I've owned my car 2 other people have driven it, both reported back that there wasn't much left on the clutch as the bite was so high. Having driven it with the generic 180 and 200 BHP maps and on occasion given the clutch plenty to do with zero slip I can confirm that the high bite point is perfectly normal.
The only real way to spot a worn clutch is to give it a bootful of revs in 3rd and look for slipping but be careful it doesn't take off like a scalded cat and try and park you in someones boot as my 2.2 has a tendency to do when it hits max boost.

Re: High biting point
I was just worried as I've sold mine due to high insurance costs and it's going on Thursday. Just didn't want complaints that the clutch was knackered and the deal to go sour

If it wasn't slipping I wouldn't worry about it.
