Anyone ever used one of these to repair the 406 hdi 110 flexi section?

I figured I might be able to remove the flexi and cat, cut out the broken flexi with a hacksaw and clamp this in its place. What with some careful-ish measurements along the way.
Its either that, or a new type approved one for best part of £90.
I cant weld, and I cant be without the car during working hours. Hence not taking the offending part to a garage to weld a new flexi in for me.
I also dont believe the cat on there at the moment is the original one. I couldn't make out a PSA part number on it anywhere, so I doubt its worth any money. Otherwise, I'd have considered replacing it for brand new part, knowing full well selling the old cat would pay for the lot plus more.
Last but not least, I am aware that the flexi having gone indicates movement in the engine bushes, but from my inspection they look ok. So maybe thats been foxed previously, but they left the exhaust. (Ive not had the car long, and its missing history)
