MOT guess how much!

Post by rupesmcd »

406 guessing game....
Ok. So I've had my MOT on the estate (2.2HDi SE). We live rurally down bumpy roads so we always have a few bits each year.
This year's list was a bit more extensive than I'd hoped, here it is:
Steering rack :(
2 rear tyres (budgets went on)
CV boot and associated roll bar links
Headlight alignment
Indicator incorrect colour (rears orange bulbs flaked paint)
Both rear tie bar rods.
Anyhow- have a guess how much I paid for all of this- including £50 for the MOT??
It is a small independent garage.
Answers on a postcard.

A little optimistic there.
The rack part cost is 205, 70 for the tyres, plus the 50 for the MOT itself, then the labour... and vat :x

Special internet bonus points for me for adding the pence:

£864.30

Might I suggest perhaps a 'tougher' car in the future? 406's are tough but smashing it down rural bumpy roads for a few years will take its toll.

Would sir like to suggest a "tougher" car? Maybe an old Landcruiser, or a "pwoppa" Landy, bits will still fall off anything else... How about an army surplus Centurion tank?

Yay I was closest! :cheesy:

When I had my 406 I had a huge £1,200.00 bill one month, it happens sometimes but the key thing is to get the value back out of it by using the car fully, you'll most likely get 2 years of trouble free motoring now. So many people get rid of cars shortly after a big bill but this is the worst thing to do.

Thanks- Agreed that selling cars after a big bill is unwise- I've done it myself! Luckily we've moved to a place with smoother roads too, so fingers crossed! I was just pleased that it passed the smoke test and exhaust system inspection.. :supafrisk:
