A friend went in for a gasket for an early Fiesta oil pump gasket some years ago. 'They don't have one.' Said the bright spark at the parts counter. 'Check in an oil pump box.' Said my friend. After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing in the conversation, it turned out that the Halfords Parts Person was saying that the Fiesta never had an oil pump as it was a two-stroke engine!!! He knew because he had one.
Amazing stuff.

They did make a Fiesta 2 stroke, there's one in the Haynes museum some of us recently visited....

Also, I believe the new Fiestas are indeed 2 stroke.. :cheesy:

I remember the two-stroke fezzer, never caught on, I remember the write-ups saying it was amazingly torquey and would pull from 20mph in 5th. Or something.

Two-strokes are banned now aren't they because Brussels said they were too polluting?

As far as oil filters go I'm led to believe the best practice is going to the main dealer and getting the correct one these days. There's so many different types you could end up fitting something that's not quite right.

Anyone remember those horrible Wartburgs from the late 60's early 70's?
It was about 1000cc, 3-cyl 2-stroke that smoked like a catherine wheel, but sounded for all the world like a silky smooth straight six.

Halfords are geneally okay I think - if you need a part on a Sunday - but I do tend to take the old part in with me to check the new one is correct..

Just a thought, how likely is it that a previous owner may have swapped the fuel filter housing to a different type?
Euro list 2 types for my car so I may be doing Halfords an injustice?

Edit...just looked at Steve's post linked above and mine is a Mahle which fits with a late model 2.2 so Halfords are crap after all!!

I'wouidnt 'trust eurocarparts either..
They gave me a fuel filter..falsely sold/for my 207..

It don't have one.. Jasper5 waisted 5 -10mins of his time searching for one on the car..

They was adamant it had one..

I will go to a trusty local factors in future..

It was the inner diameter that was wrong on the Halfords part 30mm and Euro lists it as 13.9mm which sounds about right to push on to the lid of the housing.
