Hello,

My engine light has come on and the engine has started to rattle when out of gear and stationary but rattling stops if moving above 20mph and with the clutch down.

Need to figure out what it is ASAP.

Hi, sorry about the late reply - I've just been going through posts I haven't red yet....

If you can add your location and car type to your signature, people can see where you are to possibly offer help with diagnosing your fault.

Go to the User Control Panel and add some info to save members simply guessing what could be wrong..

A little more information would be helpful. Which engine light has come on, what sort of mechanical rattle, is it a tapping or a heavy knock, is it related to engine speed and what engine is it?

What is the make and model of your car? And what year?

I had a problem with a rattle/ scraping noise that went away when revved ................it was the alternator bearing, which eventually collapsed

My friend had a rattle (206 diesel) which also went once revved, that was the crankshaft pulley collapsing
