Hi, just incase some of you guys haven't got the manual I scanned in a few pages from my D8 and D9 manuals for Oil specs. If you need the Fusebox grids for both the D8 and D9, they can be found on this thread.

I hope the scans come in useful :cheesy:

Hello! I hope everyone had a good Easter weekend. I did, finally got the BBQ out 8)

My D9 is going to be due for a service in about 2000 miles. I was thinking about what Oil to use. I usually use Castrol 10w 40. But as the summers have become hotter, do you think 10w 50 would be better to use? :?

Does anyone else use different spec oil than the manufacturer recommended one for their HDI? :?:

in my opinion HDi's should use fully synthetic, i know mine aint a HDi but i use castrol edge 0W40 not cheap at £9.90 a litre, but i get trade discount, or you could use mobil one 5W40 or 0W40 diesel oil
if you went to pug they would use total oil :?

I only ever use Silkolene/Fuchs XTR 10W/40.

It's classed as semi synthetic by Silkolene but it is of such high quality that lesser manufacturers would be allowed to classify it as fully synthetic.

It has excellent anti friction and anti shear properties and stays in grade very well. It's pretty cheap too at around £20.00 per 4ltrs (but you need 2 bottles here :x ).

I can highly recommend it.

I get it sent to me by carrier from a place in Yorkshire (X-cite motorsport).

Welly.

I use exclusively Castrol GTX Magnatec for high mileage modern engines. 15W/40 works best I find. (for the 2lt Petrol)
