Lack of power (hesitation) on acceleration.

I have a lack of power on acceleration. The feeling juddering and hesitation it is as if I'm doing 15/20 mph in 5th gear. but this happens so at the beginning of EVERY gear change. including acceleration from 1st.

Any solutions people? It idles as it should. The Internet is saying lack of fuel or misfire or spark plugs or air intake? but the engine is too quiet to be a misfire?

I have a 98 406 1.8 Lx S petrol.

you might be best to do a 'mini-service on it,

.Fuel filter,
.plugs.
.filter
etc.

it couid be fuel related..or even a failed cat. hard to guess realy.
is the EML on?
