is this supposee to be like this

Post by djsteve »

Ive just got a 2001 406 110 hdi today and got hit with what seems to be the common anti pollutiom error. And car is in limp mode as expected.. but having had a quick look under the bonnet i can see what seems to be a pipe coming off what looks like the fuel filter(big black housing front center of engine), said pipe is just hanging loose below and is not attached anywhere.

Is this normal or a possible cause of issue. I cant scan for faults as my bluetooth obd2 does not connect to car

Yes, its a drain pipe.

The anti-pollution fault is generic, your best bet would be to find somewhere that can scan your car for fault codes, preferably a member here with PP2000.... :cheesy:

Without knowing what the fault is, you could spend time and money replacing things that don't need replacing.

Try the cheapest things first to find a fault yourself i.e. unplug the MAF sensor ( its a grey block attached to the pipe between the air filter and the 'corrugated' section. If the car improves then its goosed, the EML light will stay on.
Then look at possible gaps/breaks in the vacuum hoses that run along the bulkhead from the servo to the 2 solenoids (small black canisters) and follow them to there respective ends.

Good luck.

Cool.

Ignore the one the diesels all have 'post heating relay stuck' as it's just the glowplugs that Hdis our age don't really need.

My money is on either 'turbo pressure too high' or 'fuel pressure too low'

Don't forget to clear the old faults first ( after you've read them ) and then see what faults come back after a spin round the block.

Hopefully very little.

A simple vacuum leak or a sticky solenoid/sensor isn't a huge cost - things get expensive when parts are replaced for no reason.

Post up your PP2000 results and we'll have a look.

ok eventually got pp2000 to talk to the car and one of the major faults thrown was this :

Warning: ECU fitted to NOUVELLE406 EDC35C2 RHZ

then said incorrect ecu fitted.

all the other faults are fuel pressure reg related
