hi
i have a 406 110 hdi, i am having a problem with the engine management the car keep blowing fuse 15 (30a) which puts the antiperlution fault. but the car only dose ths when its freezing out side. i have to warm the car up befor i can change the fuse once ive done this the car drives normal. i have checked the wireing and have found no falts or any damage to the soilnoids on the bulck head wich the fuse powers.
i have checked everthing i can think of and im at a loss so any help would b great.

thanks

tom

Hi Tom. I'm afraid the wiring diagrams I have are saying for fuse 15 (engine fuse panel, right?) r/h headlamp, noting or engine management (so it shouldn't run if it's blown). Umm, can I trouble you for an RPO? viewtopic.php?f=18&t=19141&p=196775&hil ... pg#p196775

I'm wondering if this is an early D9 with "additional heating" (heater coils in one of the coolant hoses) which has sodded itself up...

The Autodata diagrams are for an early D9, (1999 - mid 2001), or at least the copy I have are, hence Steve's request for an RPO.

Fuse no.s are different on later cars.

Fuse numbers could be different on any 406 :frown: The later full-mux diagrams seem to be fairly close but anything else, all bets are off. Especially on the ones they mounted the fuse panels upside-down on.

Oooh, Autodata, hahaha, hehehe, hohoho.

Ah, 9612 makes it full-mux. Sedre says... ok, oxygen sensors  The handbook says ignition coil (ha), windscreen wipers, oxygen sensor, oil pressure and, erm, injection system

Be a right laugh if Autodata is right.

The diagrams also list fuse 4 for engine ecu, so maybe it whichever one the guy/gal wiring it up fancied.

Windscreen wipers? Oil pressure switch? (Also does temperature)

I know it's unlikely but does the car have a DPF?

I think I'd be tempted to pull that fuse and see what's not working. Obviously it'll go into cripple mode but I suspect that's a red herring, it might be because it's not seeing the engine oil temperature and deciding that, if it doesn't see the information, then it's going to sulk.

Well done, 2 days older than mine, born in mid-March 2003 so it's a later D9 with fully multiplexed electrics, as Steve says :D

If we're talking F15 in the engine fusebox, the diagrams I can access suggest it powers all the solenoid valves controlled by the engine ecu:

EGR all or nothing s/valve
EGR butterfly s/valve
Turbo control s/valve
HP pump 3rd piston deactivation s/valve

Disconnecting any of these is likely to give you an EML as it will fail the power up self test. I think I would start by checking the resistance of each to see if any is short circuit / look for any wiring damage.
