Bosch pump jammed

Hi folks.

Recently i have tried to revive my old pug 309 XLD diesel which was running on oil.
Since it didnt want to start,i have cleaned filter in tank behind, pipes and changed that filter in front (which has little pump to pump the diese toward the bosch pump)

I tried to pump it by hand and it clearly shows that diesel is travelling to bosch pump but when i connected hose directly diesel in can to bosch pump it didnt sucked any diesel in it so my suspicion is now that bosch pump is blocked.
Is there any way i can cleaned it or something...pug was standing quite some time now and perhaps that oil turned into grease and jammed the pump.

Thanks in advance.

Silvester.

Oh noes!

Don't try forcing the thing you'll make matters worse.

To me it sounds like the whole thing needs soaking in diesel or something to clean it with an occasional 'try' to rotate the mechanism?

Unfortunately I think the pump needs to come off and be stripped/cleaned. If your cranking the engine and there is no suction then the internal vain pump is probably seized.

Yes,i am thinking there isnt much to do,only to pull the pump out of the engine.
Have tried everything else.

Was just hoping there is some way of maybe clean it.

The only problem is that i need to move the cambelt down in order to remove the pump and thats beyond my mechanical abillities.

Undo the bleed screw on the pump and see if diesel will come out, then undo all the fuel pipes at the pump and see if fuel comes out.

This is that Bosch pump.

I know where fuel pipes are but where is that bleed screw on the pump itself?

Can't see one there, yours must not have.

Undo the fuel pipes instead.

I would try getting a container of diesel (warm if poss) putting the feed+primer directly into it. Remove the return, cover the area in rags then pump the diesel in by hand. The return has a 0.5mm hole in that bolt which maintains internal pressure, as you can imagine its very restrictive.
If you manage to flush it out you could then jack the car up, put it in 5th and turn the drivers wheel which should get the pump turning. Fit the return back on and try to run the car from the container of diesel.

You should also keep in mind that the injectors will contain what ever is in the pump, might be worth giving them a clean too.
