strange noise from left of engine

Hi all, I own a 406 2.0 hdi dredded, anyway ive got a strange noise coming from the left of the engine, ive changed the bottom pulley lasy year when I changed the timing belt, but just recently started getting like a ticking sound. When I turn right it gets worse but when I turn back left it seems to go when driving but doesn't go when turning steering wheel when stationary, if anyone has any ideas as it is driving me mad!!!

A whuh?
Noise only while the car's moving, dependent on steering. Drive shaft joint boot clip falling off? Are you able to get it in the air and spin the wheel to see if you can spot the problem?

not at the moment, I thought it could be possibly the power steering pump for some strange reason as mostly heard when engine warmed up
