406 knock sensor permanent fault

Hi my car is 406 1.8 petrol with ew7 .

i scanned my car using planet and found the one permanent fault in engine ecu .

( 406 knock sensor permanent fault )

but no check engine light .have few questions to ask from you
is that safe to drive with this fault ?
why doesn't i get the check engine light ?

i looked to locate the sensor but no luck . where is the knock sensor is located in 406 ew7 engine.so i can check the wire lead

Did you have symptoms to look for or just curious? Hopefully the ecu will retard the ignition which will make the car sluggish but avoid damage. Obviusly if you can hear the engine pinking (rattling) then stop using it.

No idea why it doesn't throw up a fault.

This is from the full-mux wiring diagrams (because they give location, I doubt your semi will be different)

Unusually (to me anyway) it's actually on the front of the engine, looks like it's above the starter.

i plugged planet for scanning bsi but it didn't work , get this fault in engine ecu after running global scan .
there is a bit rattling sound around 3000 rpm .
i located the sensor with the image posted by Steve. it not easy to unplug and re plug coz its under the inlet manifold .
have to remove air filter box and water hoses to get the room .
will try next saturday

Might be unrelated but..
Couid u have picked up some bad fuel?.

Read something about it on fb last night..n thought it was an hoax but..Google says its true..
