Things.. headlights.. steering wheel... car!

Hello

As I type this, my hand are quite achy from all the screwing around under/in front of my car over the weekend. I was replacing the front bumper! A three spanner job, Haynes manual reckons... Yeah, right! Removing the headlights were an absolute pain in the arse. How on earth did they design it like that?! Those bolts to the wing from the inside and the one under the headlight is impossible to get to. Had to get on of those flexible shaft screwdrivers to get anywhere. But anyway, I managed it!

But today I realised that the headlights are completely out of alignment. The left one is way too high and the right one is way too low. And to make matters worse, it seems that the headlight adjuster doesn't work any more for some reason - on either of the lights. I haven't crawled around to see what it was I did to break them as it was too dark, but before I do tomorrow, anyone know what could be the cause. Also, how can I adjust them without taking them off again? Can I use those screws that are at the top of the headlights? Not sure what they do...?

Also, I fit some fog lights on (so I am cool now), but I couldn't get the stalk off since I can't get to the two screws on each side of the steering wheel to get the covers off. It seems they are torx screws - anyone know what size they are so I can buy the torx screwdriver to go through that teeny tiny hole?

Fitting the bumper was another story, but that's for another day :D

Hi! please read it with your mind because I'm thai, so, my english is not well...

Just adjust the the headlight adjuster and then remove the adjuster and put it in place again... for example - if the right one is too low you just (1) adjust the screw (at the top of the adjuster) to the highest position then (2) remove the adjuster and (3) adjust the screw to the lowest position and (4) put it in place again... repeat all step until its ok

I'd guess you ain't got 'em back in right and the adjusting mech's caught on something. Can you hear the whirring when you try to adjust them?

Driving a french car I'd have expected you'd have a secutiy bit set by now ;)

Try one of these:

You can also get a neat little package of about 40 security bits in a small lumpy rubber holder for about fiver. Maplins used to do them and I think B&Q still might.

Thanks, I just went out and adjusted it manually. As I've done that, the auto adjusters started working again.. Stupid thing! I guess something was stuck there like mjb says.

Thing is, I have the set, but when I attach it to the screw driver thing, it becomes too big to fit in the actual hole so it never gets to the screw! That's why I asked for the exact size... :)
