Oil selection?

Hi folks,
A quick question. I have the 406 2.0 Hdi (110) and service my car usually once a year. I tend to put in good quality magnatec oil 5w40 spec. I recently swapped the wifes car and am left with 2 full containers of magnatec 5w30. My question is, can I use this in the peugeot instead of the usual 40 weight? I used the castrol website and it listed edge 0w40 or magnatec 5w30. It may seem on the surface to be a no-brainer but I'm a creature of habit and like to check with folk who are far cleverer than I am.
Any advice would be appreciated.
