HI Folks
I have 2 x 406 estate a 2002 reg 110 tdi with damage to the rockers (aux belt came orr and took out the timing belt), and a
(2000) reg 90 di I bought as a runaround while waiting to get the tdi sorted out, but this was damaged beyoud repair by some numpty in a transit backing into it while it was parked. Are the engines in the 2000 90di and the 2002 110 tdi the same and can I just use the head from the 90 to repair the 110 tdi.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi there, welcome :cheesy:

Sorry to hear of your woes. I've just been checking, the major assemblies are the same but there are some small differences that I'm not spending hours looking for....

In theory the head should be ok, you'll have just lost all 8 followers. However it's best to check for valve damage, maybe with a boreoscope.

Looking at part numbers the heads should be the same, there is an earlier head for the 110 but it won't affect yours built 2001/2

Hi & welcome aboard, sorry to hear about your mishaps.

IIRC there is a very small difference in compression ratio between the two engines, but I don't know how it's achieved.
I can't imagine the heads would be different, but with the cost of gaskets and supposedly used-once head bolts etc. might it be cheaper swapping the whole engine, but keeping the 110 ancillaries?

(Just a suggestion)
