Injectors

Post by KiwipugUK »

Ok, so I think I might have an injector issue. Idle is a little lumpy unless it engine is very very warm, and when not quite warm revs between idle and 1300rpm vibrate quite bad. Fuel economy also seems to be quite bad, but not all the time.
Did a bit run down to London and back, averaging about 33-35mpg but occasionally flicking back up to normal 44-45mpg at 80mph. Power seems a bit down too.
OBD scan shows injector correlation way off on one injector and varied on all of them.
If i can get a set cheap enough at the scrappie i'm just going to change em all.
So question is, can I use injectors from other HDI engines (as long as they are Bosch) or do I have to get them from another 110hp 406?
Its getting hard to find a 406 with low miles on at the scrap yard so was thinking a late model 307 or Focus, does it need to be a 2.0l engine or are the 1.6l the same? If I get them from a higher power engine ie: 136hp 407 etc... will there be any benefit? Do I need to remap them?
Sorry for so many questions!

I think you're going to have to go for a set from another 110 HDi, or possibly an earlier HDi 90 with a Bosch fuel system.
Important thing is to get the right Bosch part No. e.g. 0445110044, or whatever.
You may find they're fitted to other PSA models with the same engine, (C5, Xsara, 307, 206, 607 etc.)
Note with mine at least, there were 3 'classes' of injector. If your replacements are different to the originals you should change the class in the engine ecu with PP2000
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Apparently 076 injectors from a 307 Hdi are good replacements - less likely to tap.
90 injectors will physically fit but I think it's a different set up and spray pattern.

I have a set of injectors here, from a 110 but I didn't check the correction values before removal, but the engine ran fine....

I'm happy to sell them as I don't need them anymore.

2.0. Hdi injectors seem to be pretty bombproof, I have changed injectors a couple of times because I though I had a problem but it turned out to be something else. Uneven idle would suggest injectors, that wasn't the problem I had with mine, turned out to be the head gasket in the end.

The original injectors had done about 200k but were still fine.

Will have a look at the scrap yard over the weekend I think for those 307 o76 injectors, I know there are plenty of 407's and C5's and things there.
I hope it not the head gasket in mine, no water loss or oil cream tho so im pretty sure it's fine.
Does anyone know anyone nearish to north wales with pp2000?

If you are not loosing any water probably not, my problem was with a C5 which occasionally ran unevenly and knocked and it was due to water leaking into a cylinder.
