strange problem

Hi,

A strange problem I am going to have difficulty explaining, but here goes.

When my 406 is warm and I am sitting in it idling at some traffic lights with the car in neutral, after about 2 – 3 minuets I notice a shaking/juddering (not massive, just noticeable) through the car that last for 10-20 seconds and repeats every say minuet, until the lights change and I start driving.

The car is pulling fine and drives fine, has never stalled or cut out, I have tried Turing the air conditioning off to see it was that, but no joy.

Any ideas?

Many Thanks,

Andy

Car:- 2.0 HDi (110bhp) Vreg saloon and has done 63K

Maybe engine mounts wearing out?

Just had a thought... It's not the engine cooling fans kicking in, is it? Mine kick in after a few minutes if I am sat in traffic and the engine temperature goes over 90 degrees....

Hi,

Don't think so, i can feel the vibration through the seat? (100% sure it is something to do with the engine)

Mine does the same, only very slightly, and not always. Feels like the engine is miss firing.

My rear engine mount is shot, very hard to inspect and can only be seen from underneath with the undertray off. The 3 points of contact within the rubber mounting are torn through which gives rise to increased engine movement and vibration. Also If I accelerate over a slight crest in the road the whole car shudders as the weight is lifted off the front for a moment, this again is the engine mount.
