Hi everyone
I am currently running a 1997 406 2.1DT executive nicely run in at 409,000 miles however I am having fuel pump problems.
The pump fitted is the Lucas epic, which has been causing the car to idle strangely and has now developed starting problems so I wondered if anybody on here would have or know to a replacement pump as I am struggling to find anyone to even look at it as they are apparently very difficult to repair.
When the car starts I can hear the pump timing advancing then regarding even when the throttle is held at a steady rpm, so any help would be appreciated.

Hi Steve & welcome aboard. 8)

I've no personal experience of these and they are getting fairly scarce but hopefully someone can help.

I understand that the Citroen XM 2.1td has a Bosch mechanical pump which fits as a direct replacement and allows the use of biodiesel, but I have contacted a few breakers who are dismantling these but none have replied which is sad as if I cannot find a way around this problem she will have to be scrapped.

Couldn't you have your current pump repaired / overhauled? Maybe it is a matter of fitting new seals and filter(s)... There seem to be a lot of "gasket kits" for sale out there for this kind of pump.

Try the 'French Car Forum' Jim on there has a good knowledge of these pumps and Paul on the 'Citroen XM Forum' may well have one.
