Doesn't sound so bad in the video, but it was loud enough that passers-by (it started when I was leaving a car park) were looking over to see what the noise was:

It's a 2001 diesel. I was able to drive it home after it started (a short distance, and driving very gently), and the noise went away by itself.
Any ideas what this noise could be?

Get a good quality one fitted, The cheap versions dont last
