You aint gonna get far with that much fuel in your tank. Well, maybe 150+ miles in a diesel but....

Typically a V6 does idle slower than a 4-banger.
A 4-banger would be rough at anything less than 750 RPM because there isn't enough time to wait for the next combustion stroke for it to run smoothly however on a V6 you have 2 more combustion strokes over the same time frame.
My Mazda V6 idled at around 600 RPM, I think yours is fine (apart from you've got no petrol, and your service light is on

)

Thanks guys, i should of nown id get ribbed for having no fuel and Mr spanner glowing away.
The no fuel is not an unusal sight because i drive hard

Service isint due yet, i did it myself about 4k ago and didnt reset it. I dont know how too

Then I shall help you my friend..........
Go to your car.....
- Press and hold the odo reset button ''ooo''
Then switch on the ignition
The display will begin a 10 second countdown
Keep the button pressed for 10 seconds the display will reset and show [-0]
Switch off the ignition and the next time you start the car the display will show 12 or 15K you can change this to 10K by interrupting the countdown and briefly pressing the odo button untill the desired mileage is displayed, then continue holding down the odo untill it finishes the countdown etc.

Speaking of mileages... My economy has been rather good lately. I assume it's to do with the warm weather we are having? Look... 500 miles on just 2/3s of a tank. The needle hit the 1/4 mark when I reached 600 miles, which worked out at 49mpg when I filled it up. And that's with driving in central London this weekend!

*cry*
The best I can do is 320 miles with the needle half way (at 42mpg average). The fuel tank must be funnel shaped at the bottom because I'm well past empty by 500 miles and the needle doesn't move when you turn on the ignition at 550 miles :/
I really need to buy a plastic gas can for the boot don't I? You just KNOW I'm going to mis-judge it one day

mines just as bad, its showing 23.4 mpg, and goes up and down as it likes, and mines only a 2.0
back to your ildeing though, my bmw convertible was a straight six and would idle at 500rpm and you couldnt even tell the thing was running, apart from the noise from the scorpion exaust

well you have the VVT 210 dont you as its a d9? will probably idle lower than mine which idles spot on 1000. however, the rev counter probably lies as it reckons it revs to 8500
on a side note, everyone knows that the trip computer in D8s works with a simple mod for the V6s?
