Is an engine swap now an option?

My beloved 406 D9 2.0 HDi 110 Exec has died, a busted conrod is my guess as things stand. Bless her, she owes ne nothing, just over 200k on the clock ... it is her time... or, is it?

Looking at how second hand car prices are going absolutely bonkers at the moment I am thinking an engine swap is not such a terrible idea.

So... plenty of DW10ATED / RHZ engines on fleabay... but... is one from a 407/ Citroen C5 / Berlingo / Partner etc... engine interchangeable?

Tons of 406 RHZ on fleabay but they are mostly from Spain. Lots of non Pug 406 ones, soooo.... anyone know if same engine/different car will work?

Old shape C5, (up to 2005), would be OK.
407 & C5 X7 have the later 16V engine. It would no doubt fit but the fuel system is different, can't see it working with your ecu, (there will be other differences too - clutch, flywheel and so on).
An earlier 307 110 HDi might be a match too.

Ahh... yes I'd have to swap the box out of the duff motor. Still... once it's out access won't be a problem

Just swap the engine block ect & swap over the rext  simples :cheesy:

Or you could buy my sub 130k car that's had a new turbo, skimmed & ported head, cambelt, water pump ect
But I can't get to the bottom of an airbag fault, so no current mot.

£500 & she's yours, I can give you lot's more info if your genuinely interested

DDD.
