points noted re vacuum thingy. I will flag it up with the garage and ask them to check. the Haynes manual does explain how to test to see if the actual servo is at fault ...valves and vacuum pump etc and I bought the manual to give to the garage to help them. (and for me to read!)
I sort of assumed when the 'Peugeot specialist' garage said I definitely needed a new servo they would have done that. ( Oh dear..I should never assume...)
This is what Haynes manual says about Servo replacement.
Crikey!Note: access to the servo unit and crossover linkage is exceptionally poor (especially on diesel models) but can be improved by removing the cylinder head (where possible) or the engine!
I Say, dear GingerMagic, any chance your garage man who made his own tool to help with removal would hire it out for a couple of days? I would give him a deposit and return it. Having to remove a cylinder head or engine sound prohibitively expensive. Never hurts to ask
The Master Cylinder is due to arrive very soon, still chasing the Servo...
