Hello,
I have a 2003 406 Hdi 90 hp. When starting from cold Stop Engine Warning Light comes on & "Engine Temperature too high" message comes up on display.
So ordered a Bosch Coolant Temperature Sensor online. OEM Part Number: 0 986 280 404
Link below:

This is a threaded / screw in type of sensor.
However, the original one in the car is a push in type that has a retaining clip holding the sensor into the housing. Link below to an image of the original type of sensor currently in the car. If you cut & paste into Google it brings up an image.

I have looked online at a few online sellers & they all give the Part Number 0 986 280 404 and images online are threaded / Screw in & not push in Sensors.
Would be very grateful if anyone could throw some light on this for me? Or if anyone knows a part number of the part I need.
Thanks in advance.

Couldn't get either of your links to work, but I reckon you need an OE part no. 1338 C1
Google that and you get many options, including https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290676836737 (which has a decent picture)
Should be available form your local motor factors / parts stockist

2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
