Rear box

I have just noticed that my rear box is blowing. Question is should I just replace it with a standard one (any ideas of cost?) or should I go all out and replace it with a stainless one?
Does anyone have a ball park figure as to how much I can get a cheap stainless one and from where?
Also, if I did just get it replaced with a stainless one of the same bore etc, am I obligated to tell my insurance company so they can jack up my premium?
Sorry, cars a 1.8 '96 406

If you're going to go the stainless route, it might prove more cost effective in the long run to get a full system done.
Personaly I see little point to putting a stainless back box onto an standard system. Thats like putting alloys on a Lada.

you going to make me go trawling for some awesome retro lada pics

you know i have a thing for retro cool cars (old japs, lada, skodas, volvos) etc

ofc with a big power engine slapped in them
JDM can can try, but will never match RDM or SDM
i also have a friend with a skoda that has had a rx7 13b rotary engine dropped in it

(from retro rides)

Ok I'm getting confused now. Have been looking on the net if fitting a replacement stainless exhaust will raise my insurance and I'm getting mixed answers. Some say large, cosmetically changing and performance exhausts require an increase and some say all changes will.
I cant see why it should if the only difference is the material its made of.
Does anyone actually know?

Yeah I got done over with an extra 10% on the insurance premium 'cos of my stainless 'zorst. My system doesn't affect the performance, but because it has a chrome oval tail pipe they count it as a cosmetic enhancement and therefore increased the premium - bastards! The thing that really pissed me off was that I rang the insurance company specifically to check this before I had it fitted and they assured me there'd be no change to the premium

You could get a Scorpion exhaust backbox. Made from Stainless steel and might increase performance and help make a better exhaust note.
Im going for one!

Have seen one but it was £a lot!
Have you seen them anywhere for a reasonable price?

The cheapest I have seen one was for £160 on eBay.
They are expensive, but I would rather go for a performance stainless steel zorst than a standard one, but thats just me.
