I'm cosidering getting my 407 2.0 HDi 136 remapped.
Has anyone on here had a remap on there car for a few years and how have you found it long term? (Wear on components etc)

Hi fella,
Surely you mean 2.2 HDi 136 ???
Anyway, The Peugeot unit is very tough and can take boost increases and fuel remaps well. The only dodgy component seems to be the Clutch assembly, this is not so good at handling more power.
Have a search on here, someone recently found an uprated one (I think his name is rapport25 or something).
A few have reported clutch slippage after a remap
I have not done mine, but would consider it only once my poorly clutch / flywheel are fixed (preferably with uprated materials).
Welly.

Hi my pug is superchipped and is in the process of having an uprated clutch and flywheel fitted as we speak the clutch is uprated by 30% along with the flywheel. Fingers are itching to get my pug back as it use to fly previus but after hard use you would find the clutch would slip this is not a problem with just chipped pugs my friends wifes 307 hdi slips on only 70k. Hope this helps. Costs with regards to the chip £511. Uprated clutch £145. Uprated flywheel £280. Labour is a sh*t load my friend is charging £300 as its around a 9.5 hrs to do. Main dealer offered to do the work but wanted £650 just in labour

He has a 407, so that would be a 2.0 L engine. 2.2 L in the 407 produces 170bhp with twin turbos.
Does that 407 have the same DMF as the D9 406's?

The 407 2.0HDi pushes out 136bhp, they get 110bhp these days from a little 1.6HDi

I've now done 20,000 miles and had a new clutch at 15,000 under warranty!
I would hope the clutch will be ok if I don't keep booting it around everywhere.
Has anyone one here had a remap for a few years and therefore can comment on long term wear and tear?

I'm seeing a pattern emerging here...

the clutch prolem on hdis isnt really the clutch, its the silly flywheel that they have that causes it, the flywheel friction surface material is about as grippy as butter. This is due to pug switching to hall sensors rather than the old vr sensors and this means the flywheel now needs to be magneticly charged......................... Pointless switch in all honesty.
For example the stock clutch on my car held out fine for an increase from 130bhp and around the same in lbft in stock form to about 200lbft and 220bhp, however new build will be using a uprated clutch. Good iron flywheel does its job well.

Sorry there, I did not notice it was a 407.
Bit worrying about all these clutch problems, Tremmy has had his changed too.
Malachy, that's interesting about the flywheel. Rapport25 on here is uprating his so it will be interesting to see how he gets on.

Pug remaps are brill! More power, more top end, more bottom end, smoother engine and better mpg, what more does anyone want? Everyone moans about the clutch giving up, mine hasn't (yet), I think it's more about how you dump the clutch, not so much the overall power output - in other words if you constantly do 'boy racer' starts with more power over stock then of course it's going to wear out more quickly - get my point

You won't suffer if you started out with a 90BHP model. The problems are with the 110's and their pesky DMF's.

Yep, you're right, mine was(is, hell does it matter!) a 90bhp version, mapped to 125bhp. It's the best money I've spent on any car and I haven't found one single downside yet!

No intercooler?

Okay, no intercooler, but one less system to go wrong and the 90 turbo spins up fast than the 110 so better pick up, but less top end potential.
