only seems to happen if i'm gunning the engine. i get a seriously strong wiff of petroleum from my 1998 2.0L16v 136bhp. i open the bonnet and theres fuel dripping from somewhere around abouts the wee round silver capsule type thing on top of the fuel rail. the fuel is comming from either the capsule thing (what is it?) or the pipes going into it, has anyone come across this before? is tightening the pipes somehow the cure?
Was the any kind of recall for this stuff?
Thanks people.

You'll probably find that the hose is split.
I have a 1996 version of what you've got and I had a leak too.
It was the hose that feeds the rail. (come from the bulkhead, sits on top of the cylinder head in a plastic shroud then into the fuel rail.
Mine split just as it attaches to the rail.
I got a replacement from the dealer for £35 and found that that exact section of the pipe was re-enforced! Peugeot must have found out it breaks after a certain time period.
Was easy to replace. 5 minutes and 2 jubilee clips.

I've also had this.
Again I just got new hoses and fitted it with a couple of jubilee clips. A nice easy job!

Oh and that silver thing is the fuel pressure regulator.

did you just ask at the parts desk for the fuel pipes that supply to the pressure regulator on the fuel rail?
In my experience peugeot parts people are dum as feck! takes an hour to find anything on their computer.

Yes. They can't go wrong really, well you wouldn't have thought so anyway!

hey guys,
i'm new here cuz i just bought a 1996 406 2liter. Same problem with the fuel leakage, and I can see it dripping too. I am guessing that I can just replace the tubes with these right?:

same here, mine actually decided to split during the mot

, there was a recall on this when it first came out but some cars missed it, there was also a modified fuel filter (plastic instead of metal) that was fitted at the same time
