the break will be very hard to find, have you got a spare harness you could fit?

yeah that will be no good, you could take the outer casing off your loom, strip back the insulation and look for the break but you will be there for days

do you think, if i took it to a auto electrician he would check it out,, not to bothered about the cost,, the amount of money spent on ecu andrecon hdi pump, this would be the end of the problem i hope !

The only real way to test a wiring harness (and it's still not guaranteed to find a fault) is to get a multimeter with an audio continuity probe, securely attach the probes to each end of a wire and give the loom a good shake/bending. If the beeping breaks up, you've found your dodgy wire otherwise it's on to the next, and then the next, and then the next...
Ideally you should try to diagnose which wire or wires are potentially broken before attempting this - a wire carrying temperature sensor data won't cause an immobiliser failure for instance. That way you'll limit the amount you have to check.
It's still a bloody long job though. I'd just get a new loom if it can't be quickly narrowed down to one of a few wires...
still no joy

i have had the hdi/engine wiring harness checked by a auto electrician, and you guessed it ! £80 just to tell me there is nothing wrong with it.. so, still 5 fault codes, and still tickover. any idea`s anyone ?
