Has anyone experienced noise from the diff. my car has only done 55000 miles but i'm getting a noise which starts at about 30mph right upto 70mph and beyond, I've jacked one of front wheels at a time off ground and run car up to these speeds, noise only comes when drivers wheel is running and passenger side stationary doesn't appear to be as noisy when both wheels off ground. Has anyone had problems with wheel/ driveshaft intermediate bearings at only 55k miles.
Also If driving down straight road and tweak steering slightly to left noise becomes less, if tweak slightly right noise gets louder?

Could be the drive shaft on its way out or even the bearings.

[font=Tahoma]Hi Steve, hope you don't mind me adding to your post but, I suspect our problems may be related :?:

When driving at a steady speed (say 60mph) in a straight line, when I lift off the throttle, when coming to a junction or similar, the steering wheel gives a little kick - is this just another 406 quirk or does something need replacing :?: my huge mileage at 218k makes me think the latter :frown:

Any (cheap) thoughts anybody :?
Cheers
