I see people refer to their 406 as D7/8/9.
Mines a 2001 HDI 110.
So what do the numbers refer so I can understand the terminology on this site please?

Yours is a D9 - it's the facelift version with the much better looking front end and the much better looking rear end and the much better interior and climate control etc.

D8's are the N/P/R/S reg 406's with the mashed up looking fronts :)

The D8/9 thing is just Peugeot's terminology for the brand, a bit like saying version 1.01, 1.02 etc.

Cheers for that.
So between us my Wife and I have had 2 D8's and 3 D9's between us.
All been good cars, before that I had 3 306's which were forever breaking, having said that a mate brought one of them off my company and its now done 202000 miles! (306XLD N reg)

if you are curious the mark one 306 was an N3 and the mark two was an N5, no idea about the mark 3 though

In four scrap yards, i only manages to find 2 or 3 406's, all D8.

if a d9 breaks it will normally fix, just costs alot!

D8's are always repairable (when they go wrong, which of course aint very often  ), most people are just tight gits and wont pay out for repairs as they dont think the cars worth it
