Headlamp washers

I took the panel underneath the washer bottle off this afternoon (breaking 2 of the 3 torx screws holding it on
), looking for why the low level sensor isn't working. Looks like the reason is because there isn't a low level sensor
What I did find instead was interesting though - a big fat pipe going from a pump in the bottle to nowhere! The pipe just went under the bottle and terminated with some mutant torx fitting on the end (mutant = probably about 12+ points in the 'star'). I saw the same size pipes going to the headlamp washers too. They were both joined together with some sort of circular device with a hole in it. Any ideas about this?

My headlamp washers don't work and I stopped investigating after seeing the big fat hoses, 2x pumps on the bottle and no room to work.
I'd quite like to get them working though really.
Sounds like yours have been blanked off? seems a strange thing to do though considering they should have their own pump which could be unplugged if you wanted.

Indeed. IIRC there's 2 pumps: one for the windscreen washers (appears to be a case of motor turns one way, front gets wet, motor turns the other way, rear gets wet) and one for the headlamp washers with a bigger pump and much bigger pipe. I have no idea what's gone on or even whether it's something that's happened after it left the factory...

Welly, you do know that you have to turn the lights on and then wash the windscreen for them too work?

When mine have stopped working it has been the fuse in the engine bay (I thinks its fuse 21 of the top of my head, 10A). Normally happens in the winter if i use them when it is icy.

like mbell666 said, first check the fuse which is in the engine bay, it will most likely be this as they wouldnt completley stop, they would either pop out and not wash or wash but not pop out, unless your BSi has cocked up, but in a non-expensive or problem causing way, or the wrong software is in the BSi
