hi people this is my first post on your forum so first things first, hi guys and girls
i just bought a sri and apart from the exhaust blowing pretty badly (booked in tomorrow for a turbo back system) is got a very annoying squeek coming from what looks like one of the aux belt pullys is there a common pully to fail on these, also i searched for this but couldnt find any info as the tappets seem pretty noisey, are they hydralic lifters or are they manually ajustable old school style?
any help will be muchly appreaciated

the tappets are mechanical, but pug really didnt design them to be checked or adjusted very often, they use a bucket and shim system, but the shims go under the buckets so you have to remove the camshaft to change the shims

I think for your turbo's sake you will want to get yourself some Carlube Triple R Semi-Synthetic 10/40 been using it from day one of owning the car.... engine has done 144k miles

you need to replace the aux belt and tensioner, they tend to go from anything upwards of 100k miles

What is the condition of the belt like? When was it last changed?
What I would do to be honest, is look at the tensioner, there is also a roller you may want to check them both...

the belt looks pretty new to be honest and the tensioners not seized or anything as it moves when you press down on the belt must be just a dry bearing in one of them, its just one of those annoying things actually more embarassing than anything sitting at the lights squeeking away lol
