last set i used were powertrain but not great wouldnt have used them but my dad already had a set in his garage from when he owned it, problem being that the bloody tension clip has fallen off and now when theres no pressure on the brakes the pads rattle like buggery in the caliper rather annoyingly, will be mintex in future!!!!!!

I've got Lucas all round and they've not given me any problems yet. Still loads of grip on them although it's hardly surprising the way I drive nowadays ;)

I use mintex, very happy with the breaking performance and they seam to be wearing ok (really should check them). Plan to carry on using them in the future.

Whilst were on about pads. I have noticed my front discs are pretty worn at the edges.
What make of disc/pad can be recommended and how mucho?
I don't like it when brakes go really noisy when they get hot though.
The rear discs on mine run really clean so I thought I would just get new pads and get the caliper cleaned and lubricated/freed up.

I took a car full (5 adults plus luggage) through the peak district the other day. Unfortunately my Extreme Grandad Driving seems to vanish as soon as I hit the first sign of a nice country lane so I was driving hard (nowhere near as hard as I'd be driving alone but hey I still got air!) for an extended period so my brakes were taking a fair old battering and I'm happy to report they worked flawlessly with no sign of fade even after the smell of the things got quite substantial
I'm definitely sticking with Lucas after that.

Just fitted brembo discs to my 90HDi, the car brakes soooooo much better now. From past experience, you pays your money and takes your choice, cheap discs wear and warp far quicker. I would also agree, new disc and pads every second pad change or 60-70k, but the Brembo have wear indicators drilled into the disc to remind you when to change - clever buggers

get ATE discs or ATE power discs, they are amazing and either lucas pads (depends on what calipers you have) or mintex pads or ATE pads
when did you last have the brake fluid changed Welly?
