What engine do you have?

I posted a question up a while ago about a strange squeaking noise which actaully turned out to be the tensioner/belt - im still running on the same parts and have done some long trips 500miles+ and this has got me worried - car was booked in tomorrow for service but its been postponed until next week, should I be worried? :|

I had that job done on my 2.1 a couple of years ago. I don't think it was a big job from what i remember, but then I just looked through my old reciepts and it cost me £215!!! That was for the tensioner and 2 rollers though.

I remember that car being lovely to drive and to be in, but I'd sh1t myself every time I had to buy parts for it.

And of course the coupe is cheap as chips on parts....NOT

I get a weird "hollow" type noise from the engine... somewhere .. at around 2600-2800 rpm. Doesn't do it outside those ranges. I had the cambelt, water pump and alternator replaced but the sound is still there. Could be the tensioner I would guess... is it hard to change? Could have a go myself with it being summer and all.

was gonna say it shouldnt be too much. When I replaced mine it wasnt that difficult to change (apart from me not realising that the tensioner was held in place with a reverse thread bolt). and the tensioner wasnt that expensive either.
Mine hadnt disintigrated, but kept ripping up belts. Been fine with belts (touch wood) since Ive replaced it 8k ago.
